How to avoid panicking over Friday deadlines and manic Mondays
We often follow a routine. However ensure that your stressful life is not routine. Everyone should work for 8 hours to max of 10 hours per day . It should never cross 50 hours per week. If it crosses 50 hours then there is some problem with your work environment. I repeat I said some problem with your work environment and not some problem with your ability but. Either the work is not planned properly or work is not shared properly. Everyone have ability definitely but at the same time everyone cannot master in every walk of life. So it is quite possible your skills too do not match. But given time everyone can develop skills and pick up the pace. Once you come to the pace, the stress should reduce. It can be stressful that when you are given a new responsibility to the time you get settled, it can be stressful situation. If you still cannot manage don’t panic. The world is huge and for a person with Morals there are tremendous opportunities out there specifically for your skill set.
Stress affects both voluntary and involuntary muscles. With age the problems can show up. Be faithful for your work and not your company. Work with the best of ability and not to the expected ability. Work for pay more than for appreciation. If I tell a shop keeper that my boss has been telling me I am the great, the shop keeper is not going to give me free products. I have to shell out money rather.
Maintain calendar. Nowadays you can get calendars in Google and Yahoo and can access any part of world. Not just that first you have to identify where it is taking more time for you. So everyday after each task mark out a calendar with your activities. My monitoring daily you can figure out which is taking more time of yours. Then you can attend to that issue.
In this world, everyone expects everything to be done. That is incorrect. You have to have a separate group like Quality group, Performance group and delegate your responsibilities.
BE TRANSPARENT: Always present what you have been doing and what are your plans. If get stuck somewhere present the hurdle immediately. This will help when he will not say one day you never updated me with your problems. Being transparent and honest is a good work culture. This is my trump card.
Promise less and deliver more.
Try to be ahead of schedule by working hard earlier. Many people have “late pattern” where they work hard only when deadline nears.
Don’t waste unnecessary time on other activities especially during office hours.
Take internet help. Try avoiding taking helping from peers. Groups like groups.google.com, groups.yahoo.com are very good areas where you can post your problems and most of time you get solution posted within a day.
Enjoy weekend this will help for rest of working days. Working out in Gym is very easy stress reliever.
These are my thoughts. At least I don’t panic on Friday’s and get bored for Monday because I follow these.
